Identifying Data - This data is what helps Machen Interiors identify you as an individual. This can be anything from your name and title to your customer number if you have an online account with Machen Interiors.


Contact Data - This is the data collected that helps Machen Interiors to contact you and is usually in the form of an address, telephone number, postal address, or email address. It may also be a username on social media.


Financial Data - These are the details about your bank account or payment card. Machen Interiors will only request this information when you make a purchase online or in-store using a payment card or cash-alternative payment method.


Transaction Data - This is the information we collect when you make a purchase from Machen Interiors either in-store or online. This information includes when and where you made your purchase, what items you purchased, and how you chose to pay for your items. It also includes the location that we sent the items to and any offers or discounts that were applied to the purchase.


User Data - This is the information that Machen Interiors collects about you as a user of our website, store, and other services. It can include information like surveys and product feedback. This data allows us to create a better picture of you as a consumer and helps us to ensure we’re creating a great product offering to match demand.


Interaction Data - This is the data we collect that shows us how you interact with our website and products. It can include what you click on or interact with on or the products, services, and other offerings that you choose to interact with in our store.


Marketing & Communication Data - This involves your interaction with our email and online marketing – including ads featured on other websites.

We want to ensure we’re sending you marketing emails with content you’ll engage with and this data helps us to tailor and improve those emails and other marketing materials.


When do we collect this information?


When you browse our products online, our website platform Wix will collect information about your browsing behaviour. This includes what you click on and how long you spend on each page. Wix will also collect information on the device that you’re using such as IP address. This helps us to identify what devices our audiences tend to use so we can better tailor our content.

If you place an order with us, we’ll gather identifying information about you, such as your name and address, as well as transaction and financial data such as what items you’ve ordered and in what quantity, when you purchased them, and how you paid for them.


If you create an account online with us, we’ll gather some identifying data about you so we can communicate with you about your orders and provide relevant marketing material. This will include your title, name, date of birth, email address, and telephone number. You’ll also be able to manage the payment card details that we have on record.


If you choose to receive an e-receipt / text rather than a paper copy for your in-store purchase, we will also need to acquire your email address / telephone number.


If you contact us through any channel, we’ll store information on your contact details like your email address, telephone number, username, or postal address so we can communicate with you about your query.

If you take part in any surveys, promotions, prize draws, or competitions, we’ll collect any information that you provide to us in your feedback or contribution. Similarly, if you leave us or our products a review, we’ll gather the information you’ve provided to us in connection with this.

If we send you marketing emails, we’ll also collect interaction data to help us learn what our customers are and aren’t engaging with.


When we collect your information for any reason, we’re required to inform you: who we are, what information we’re collecting, why we need it, the lawful basis for obtaining it, how long we’ll keep it for and how we’ll use it.

Why do we collect personal data?


Gathering personal information helps us to gain a better understanding of our customers and helps us ensure we’re offering the best products and services. We want to give you a great, personalised shopping experience and we wouldn’t be able to do this without getting to know you.

To ensure the safety of both our customers and colleagues, we use CCTV in our store. These cameras capture footage to help prevent and detect crime, ensuring our store remains a safe environment.

Shared Data.


We don’t usually share your information with any other parties, however, there are occasions when we might have to - for example, to provide a courier with your address. On the occasions where we do share your data, we’ll never provide third parties with more information than they need to perform their duty directly on our behalf and under our instruction.

If we need to share your personal information for any other reason, we will always gain your consent beforehand.

These systems are monitored frequently and we regularly carry out penetration testing to identify vulnerabilities.

Only employees with legitimate reason for accessing this data are granted permission to do so.


Your Rights.


  • To be informed when and how we collect, process, and store your data. This is ideally done before your data is collected, but there may be times when this isn’t possible, for example when your data isn’t collected directly from you. In this case, we’re required to inform you that we’ve acquired your data within one month of its collection.

  • To access information that we hold about you. These requests for your personal information are free. To help us respond in the most efficient and effective way, please contact us using the email address provided on our contact page.

  • To rectify any discrepancies or errors in the information we hold about you. If we’ve stored any information about you, and you believe it to be incorrect, you may ask that it be rectified.

All direct payment gateways offered by and used by Machen Interiors adhere to the standards as set by PSS-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information by our store and its service providers.
